Sister-Arts Studio...a Mother and Daughters' Vision
Sister-Arts Studio is owned and operated by Donna Palicka, a licensed interior designer and 21 year veteran in the Chicago corporate world. Donna and her 10 year old daughter Ona, fantasized about Sister-Arts Studio as the ultimate "creative sanctuary", a place where all creative activities could be explored together. In addition the studio would provide a means of escaping the corporate culture (long hours, travel, parental-guilt, and stress) and providing the luxury of sharing an abundance of time together. After 2 years of research, planning and teaching enrichment classes at the Francis W. Parker School, their dream became a reality and Sister-Arts Studio opened the summer of 2005.
“Teach Love through the Creative Arts”
The mantra “Teach Love” evolved as a beautiful result of working with children. “When you interact with children with an open heart, open mind and unlimited patience they in turn embrace learning with love.” Sister-Arts creates opportunities for parent and child to experience the “Teach Love” model by attending creative classes together, learning together, and building-upon and sharing common creative interests in a warm and nurturing environment.
“Sisters” of Sister-Arts Studio
The “Sisters” of Sister-Arts Studio are very special hand selected instructors. Each one has unique teaching skills, unlimited patience, a beautiful personality and sense of humor. Our “Sisters” have their own special talents, dedicated websites or businesses and offer a variety of knitting, felting, crochet and jewelry design kits, many of which are sold at Sister-Art Studio. Open “Knit Night” on Thursdays from 6:30 – 8:30 is a perfect opportunity to meet our instructors, as well as socialize with other knitters.
