Curls "Filemot" Shawl Class (Interm)

"Filemot" is one of the most admired shawls at Sister-Arts Studio! Filemot by Hunter Hammersen, published in Curls, uses twisted stitches to create 3-dimensional texture. If you can knit and purl we guarantee that you can make this beautiful piece. Twisted stitches are easy to master and, once you learn how to create them, this technique will open up a whole new world of knitting. Jami will have written pattern support for the chart as well as tips and tricks for chart reading Curls patterns. Filemot can be knit in any weight yarn.

The Doodler Wrap Class (Interm)

The Doodler designed by Stephen West, SASI shop sample by Park Williams, is one of two most admired shawl pieces in the shop! The color and fiber combinations are stunning and will inspire you to create your own Doodler. We are offering The Doodler as a 5-week class. Park will instruct you through short rows, cables, picking up stitches, picots and more. We are color experts at Sister-Arts Studio so please attend the first class early to select your yarn.

Crochet-Along Class!



First Mandala Crochet-Along (Adv Beg)
Join us for this amazing new Mandala CAL featuring a pattern from Sophie's Universe. This 11 week class meets for 1-hour on Monday evenings from 7-8 pm. Each week you will learn to crochet several rounds to build your mandala. Choose 6-7 colors of cotton or wool yarn of your choice and design your own mandala color scheme. On-line tutorials are available if you are not able to attend one of the scheduled classes.

"Cloud 90 Hat" was designed by Donna Palicka specifically for Debbie Bliss, Pure Bliss Collection, IRIS Yarn. Iris is a lofty blend of Super Fine Merino and Cashmere; choose from 9 colors. Learn the long tail cast-on, knitting in the round, rib and seed stitches then knitting /decreasing with double point needles. This hat is beautiful embellished with a fur pom-pom or without!

My First Colorwork Hat - (Interm)

"Polarized Hat" written by Tanis Gray is a great introduction to 2-color knitting. This warm and cozy hat is stylized with a Latvian braid and tassels. Learn knitting in the round with circular needles, color stranding, Latvian braid, decreasing with double point needles and tassel embellishment. Our store sample is knit in Shibui Drift, a beautiful blend of Merino and Cashmere. Drift is available in 9 colors at Sister-Arts studio.

My First Baby Hat - Thrummed or Striped - (Adv Beg)
Appalachian Baby Design has created several baby hat kits for beginner, intermediate or advanced knitters in organic cotton. Our favorite is the Thrummed Baby Hat. Select a kit in colors pink, blue or natural and we will guide you through knitting your first hat. You will learn to read a pattern, knit with circular needles and decrease with double point needles. Finish your hat with i-cord or an adorable pom-pom. Cute as a Button!

NEW - Creating Textures with Knit & Purl Stitches!



Random Scarf by Vicki Twigg - (Beginner)
Vicki Twigg the founder of the Twigg Stitch has invented an ingenious skill-building scarf pattern. You will learn how to create textures using knit & purl stitches and learn how to read a pattern. The Random Scarf is created by throwing a die three times to determine your yarn color, border pattern and center pattern. You will knit 16 rows then throw the die again for your next section, knit 16 rows again and repeat. This pattern can be accomplished with 3-6 yarn colors and the border and center patterns are written as well as charted. Vicki also has provided instructional videos on vickitwigg.com. Skills required for this class are cast-on, knit, purl & bind-off.

My First Pair of Mittens - (Any Skill Level)

Hypnosis Mittens in Zauberball, Lightning Fast Mittens in Rasta or The Worlds Simplest Mittens in Rios. This class is designed for knitters that are ready to expand their skills. You have knit scarves and hats now you're ready for mittens! In this series you will learn to read a pattern, make a gauge swatch and knit the mittens from the cuff up with your choice of pattern and yarn. You choose the size (toddler to adult large), yarn thickness and the needle type (double point or magic loop). Try the new Addi FlexiFlips double point needles. Three classes later you have a super warm pair of mittens!

Wet Felting Scarf Classes!

 

  
  

Wet Felting with Tonya Utkina - (Beg)
Tonya Utkina will introduce you to the exciting technique of wet felting using Noro's new fiber "Rainbow Roll".
Rainbow Roll is 100% wool pencil roving available in 12 vibrant color combinations. Tonya will guide you in designing your own scarf with the color combination of your choice and small amounts of merino wool & silk.
You will partially felt your scarf using soapy water, bubble wrap and a little elbow grease. No experience is necessary, materials are included.
After class Tonya will complete the felting process for you in her studio (processing time approximately one week).

Classes are once per month and fill up quickly so register ASAP!

Rigid Heddle Warping Class - (Beg)
Learn to weave in this fall! Purchase the Schacht 15" Cricket Loom from Sister-Arts Studio then call to register for a one-session warping class. Once the loom is warped you can learn to weave on your own ..really! If you would like additional classes to learn how to perfect your weaving or finish your woven scarf/runner please call to arrange a private class. Tuesday evenings are best during the Fall.

Are you ready for your first sweater? Not sure if you want to tackle an adult size? This class is for you!
Antler Cardigan by Tin Can Knits is written in sizes six months through all sizes for women and men. This sweater is knit in one piece from the bottom up using worsted weight yarn. Classes are spaced 2-weeks apart to allow sufficient time for knitting progress. Have another pattern in mind for this class.. bring it along! Pattern is included; yarn must be purchased at Sister-Arts Studio.

When my daughter Ona was young, we spent our "mommy & me time" creating. At the age of seven I taught her to knit and she picked it up in five minutes! Over the next year we knit scarves for all of her teachers. Knitting was and still is a wonderful bonding experience for us...give it a try with your special child! Ages 7 and up.

Basics of Blocking (Beg)

All the pattern pieces are stitched, ends are woven in, and now I'm supposed to do what, block? Blocking provides hand knits with that extra bit of polish that elevates the finished product. This class examines how, when and why to use different blocking tools and techniques. Students are welcome to bring their own projects to discuss blocking strategies.
