Papillion, designed by Marin Melchior is our hottest new shop sample! We used Urth Yarn's Uneek Fingering and Harvest Fingering fibers. The Pattern is extensively written and diagrammed. Jami will teach you to master lace knitting, German short rows, color changing and carrying colorwork. We have ten colors of Uneek to choose from. Please join us for the wonderful butterfly class!

New RBG Sweater Class!

 


The Knitoriuos RBG - (Interm)

The RBG sweater, designed by Park, was inspired by the notorious Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Park designed this sweater in honor of the 
important work RBG does and continues to do as a Supreme Court Justice, while also paying homage to her amazing collar collection. The hope is that this sweater will endow the wearer with the strength, perseverance, gravitas and integrity we so rightfully associated with The Knitorious RBG. Join us for this bottom up sweater class and learn simple colorwork. You can also choose to knit the baby RBG sweater as a top-down pattern!

Vertigogo Capelet Class & KAL- (Interm)
Vertigogo a colorwork capelet was designed by Donna Palicka for the 2018 Chicago Yarn Crawl. This garment was admired by all and is available on Ravelry! Vertigogo, knit from the top down, is written out line-by-line and charted. We chose a silk / wool dk weight fiber, by Elsebeth Lavold called Silky Wool. The color definition, drape and hand are perfect! Join us for this knit-along and master colorwork, chart reading and capelet construction. Donna has two other capelets to choose from on Ravelry; Capelet Deja Vu and Capelet Trompe L'oeil. Choose your favorite for this class!

Master 2-Color Brioche Flat! (Interm)
Have you tried brioche on your own without success? This class is for you! Learn how to knit 2-Color Brioche starting with a flat pattern. After you master basic 2-color brioche, you will learn how to incorporate increases and decreases as well as strategies for fixing your mistakes.

When my daughter Ona was young, we spent our "mommy & me time" creating. At the age of seven I taught her to knit and she picked it up in five minutes! Over the next year we knit scarves for all of her teachers. Knitting was and still is a wonderful bonding experience for us. Give it a try with your special child! Ages 7 and up.

Rasta Cowl in the Round - (Adv Beg)
Marian is the perfect pattern for Malibrigo Rasta yarn. Learn to knit in the round with super bulky yarn and size 17 or 19 needles. You will learn to read a pattern, long tail cast-on, how to join in the round and seed stitch. This project knits up so quickly you will be half way through the pattern in this class. This cowl is beautiful worn over the shoulders once indoors! I bet you can't make just one!

Cashmere Cloud and Cloud 90, designed by Donna, are easy hat patterns with a combination of rib, seed and knit stitches. Acer Shawl - (Adv Beg)

Acer Shawl, designed by Joanne Scrace, was inspired by the beautiful tumbling waves of leaves on the mature Acer tree. This shawl is deceptively easy to make and was designed for crocheters nervous about following patterns. The size is easily adaptable and the pattern is written (and charted) for both fingering and dk weight yarn. Long gradient color changing fibers, such as Noro, Freia and Uneek yarns are perfect for this beautiful shawl! Visit Sister-Art Studio to see our amazing collection of hand dyed colorways.

Bead Stitch Hat (Adv Beg)
Bead Stitch Hat by Erica Deitz is a great crochet skill builder. Learn to read a crochet pattern and combine three different crochet stitches to create this slightly slouchy textured hat. Crocheted with aran weight yarn it works up quickly! We used a blend of alpaca and cotton for ultimate warmth and beautiful stitch definition. We also have a fabulous assortment of fur pom-poms to choose from.

Sandbar Vest - (INTERM)
Sandbar Vest, designed by our crochet instructor Maria, was admired by all during our 2018 Chicago Yarn Crawl. This vest is designed using three different crochet stitches in three cascading colors. Maria used Noro's new summer fiber Kumo, however Noro's new fall/winter fiber Kiri would be beautiful as well. Join us for this great skill building crochet class. We are excited to see what fiber and color combinations you choose!

Personal Project Class or Drop-in for help!

Sister-Arts Studio, Inc. invites you to join us for personal knitting or crochet classes! Bring your own pattern and we'll help you select appropriate yarn and needles/hooks then guide you through your project. Don't have a pattern; we have plenty of books and patterns in the studio to select from. Two hour Personal Project Classes are small and semi-private.
Just need help with your project or technique?.. try our Drop-In for help class on Sundays!

Basics of Blocking (Beg)

All the pattern pieces are stitched, ends are woven in, and now I'm supposed to do what, block? Blocking provides hand knits with that extra bit of polish that elevates the finished product. This class examines how, when and why to use different blocking tools and techniques. Students should bring their own projects to discuss blocking strategies.

Seaming Workshop (Beg)

Ok, I have blocked my sweater, what do I do now? Learn a variety of seaming techniques to finish off your sweater; side seams, shoulder seams, invisible seams etc. Students are welcome to bring their own projects to practice seaming techniques.

Wet Felting Scarf Class!
 

      

Wet Felting with Tonya Utkina - (Beg)


Tonya Utkina will introduce you to the exciting technique of wet felting using Noro's new fiber "Rainbow Roll".
Rainbow Roll is 100% wool pencil roving available in 12 vibrant color combinations. Tonya will guide you in designing your own scarf with the color combination of your choice and small amounts of merino wool & silk.
You will partially felt your scarf using soapy water, bubble wrap and a little elbow grease. No experience is necessary, materials are included.
After class Tonya will complete the felting process for you in her studio (processing time approximately one week).

Classes are once per month and fill up quickly so register ASAP!

Rigid Heddle Warping Class - (Beg)

Learn to weave in this fall! Purchase the Schacht 15" Cricket Loom from Sister-Arts Studio then call to register for a one-session warping class. Once the loom is warped you can learn to weave on your own ..really! If you would like additional classes to learn how to perfect your weaving or finish your woven scarf/runner please call to arrange a private class.
