Papillion, designed by Marin Melchior is our hottest new shop sample! We used Urth Yarn's Uneek Fingering and Harvest Fingering fibers. The Pattern is extensively written and diagrammed. Jami will teach you to master lace knitting, german short rows, color changing and carrying your colorwork. We have ten colors of Uneek to choose from. Please join us for the wonderful butterfly class!

Modern Holiday Stocking (Interm)
Transitions Stocking, a modern design by Cindy Steinberg, is the a perfect holiday stocking design. Learn to knit socks for the first time and only make one, no second sock syndrome. We will teach you simple fair isle knitting, chart reading, short rows, and kitchner stitch  in worsted weight yarn. This pattern is sure to become a family favorite!

SASI Sweater Club 


Design a sweater to fit your style!

Are you ready to knit your first sweater? We have several patterns to choose from and all are knit in one piece from the top-down or bottom-up. Classes are spaced 2-weeks apart to allow sufficient time for knitting progress. Have another pattern in mind for this class.. Bring it along! Yarn must be purchased at Sister-Arts Studio.

Knitting Technique Classes

Master 2-Color Brioche Flat! (Interm)
Have you tried brioche on your own without success? This class is for you! Learn how to knit 2-Color Brioche starting with a flat pattern. After you master basic 2-color brioche, you will learn how to incorporate increases and decreases as well as strategies for fixing your mistakes.

Master 2-color Brioche in the Round!

WheatandChaff, by Katrin Schubert is a beautiful example of 2-color brioche. Once you have mastered flat 2-color brioche now it's time to master this beautiful cowl, knitting brioche in the round.

Master the Tuck Stitch - (Interm)

Tuck Stitches are three dimensional stitches created in a field of stockinette. We will help you master the technique then design a scarf or infinity scarf using the tuck stitch pattern of your choice.

Learn to cast-on, knit & purl, create garter, stockinette, rib, basket weave & seed stitch patterns then bind off and weave in edges. This class includes needles, practice yarn and one skein of worsted weight yarn of your choice. Discounted price is $100, full value is $125 per person!

Parent & Child Knitting - (Beg)

When my daughter Ona was young, we spent our "mommy & me time" creating. At the age of seven I taught her to knit and she picked it up in five minutes! Over the next year we knit scarves for all of her teachers. Knitting was and still is, a wonderful bonding experience for us. Give it a try with your special child! Ages 7 and up.

Sister-Arts Studio invites you to join us for weekly beginning crochet classes. Learn the basic crochet stitches; chain stitch, single crochet, double crochet, half-double crochet & triple crochet. If time permits we will teach you to crochet in the round. We provide a laminated instruction card, scrap yarn and crochet hook, however bring materials if you have tried to crochet on your own.

Vintage Crocheted Blanket (Adv Beg)

This classic chevron baby blanket is a classic design. The pattern calls for 2 yarn colors however you decide the number of colors and striping pattern you prefer. It is easily adaptable in width as well as length. Go crazy and create a rainbow striped blanket!

Lakefront Trail Reversible Tee - (Interm)
Are you read to crochet a simple summer garment? This pattern, by Maria our expert crochet instructor, was designed for the 2017 Chicago Yarn Crawl. It incorporates two different crochet textures on the front and back and is completely reversible. The yarn used is Zooey by Juniper Moon, a light blend of cotton and linen. Join us and expand your crochet skills!

Personal Project Class or Drop-in for help!

Sister-Arts Studio, Inc. invites you to join us for personal knitting or crochet classes! Bring your own pattern and we'll help you select appropriate yarn and needles/hooks then guide you through your project. Don't have a pattern?... we have plenty of books and patterns in the studio to select from. Two hour Personal Project Classes are small and semi-private.
Just need help with your project or technique?.. try our Drop-In for help class on Sundays from 2 - 5 pm!

Basics of Blocking (Beg)

All the pattern pieces are stitched, ends are woven in, and now I'm supposed to do what, block? Blocking provides hand knits with that extra bit of polish that elevates the finished product. This class examines how, when and why to use different blocking tools and techniques. Students should bring their own projects to discuss blocking strategies.

Seaming Workshop (Beg)

Ok, I have blocked my sweater, what do I do now? Learn a variety of seaming techniques to finish off your sweater; side seams, shoulder seams, invisible seams etc. Students are welcome to bring their own projects to practice seaming techniques.

Wet Felting Scarf Class!


Wet Felting with Tonya Utkina - (Beg)

Tonya Utkina will introduce you to the exciting technique of wet felting using Noro's new fiber "Rainbow Roll".
Rainbow Roll is 100% wool pencil roving available in 12 vibrant color combinations. Tonya will guide you in designing your own scarf with the color combination of your choice and small amounts of merino wool & silk.
You will partially felt your scarf using soapy water, bubble wrap and a little elbow grease. No experience is necessary, materials are included.
After class Tonya will complete the felting process for you in her studio (processing time approximately one week).

Classes are once per month and fill up quickly so register ASAP!

Rigid Heddle Warping Class - (Beg)

Learn to weave in this fall! Purchase the Schacht 15" Cricket Loom from Sister-Arts Studio then call to register for a one-session warping class. Once the loom is warped you can learn to weave on your own ..really! If you would like additional classes to learn how to perfect your weaving or finish your woven scarf/runner please call to arrange a private class.

Machine Sewing Basics - Beginner

Sister-Art Studio, Inc. invites you to a machine sewing class. Do you own a sewing machine but don’t know how to use it? Bring in your machine and we will teach you how to set up your machine, thread, adjust, use & troubleshoot it.
