For years I dreamed of developing a series of custom yarn colors, but how does anyone create a unique color combination? There are so many fabulous indie dyers cooking up color pallets that are so beautiful they make you want to cry or scream with delight!

My dreams and color fantasies were filled with gardens of purple, green and acid-yellow shades. I was confident that my color inspiration would come from nature but how do I begin to covey the images in my imagination to a expert dyer?

My daughter Ona asked if we could attend the 10,000 Orchids exhibit at the Chicago Botanic Gardens and that was it, my answer to capturing the colors I could never express in words! These are just few inspirational photos from a wonderful afternoon with 10,000 orchids and my lovely daughter Ona.
